PlasmaNitriding technology, developed based on the glow discharge
phenomenon, is reviewed in this chapter, ranging from its basic physical
principle, main processing characteristics and technical advantages, as well as
its industrial applications.Other nonmetal element plasma surface alloying
technologies, such as plasma carburizing, plasma Nitro-carburizing and plasma
sulfurizing are briefly introduced. Further discussion is carried out on its
limitation of the nonmetallic element for plasma nitriding technology and advanced
technology development in China. The advantages of plasma ion nitriding are:
·
High diffusion speed – Driving under plasma energy and high
temperature, nitrogen ions can diffuse into the material
·
Energy saving – Ion bombardment of the surface generates
local heating on the working piece surface without heating the whole furnace
body, thus the process can greatly minimize energy consumption.
·
Controllable microstructure – In contrast to the gas nitriding process, the
composition and microstructure of the nitride layer are controllable during the
plasma nitriding process.
·
No requirement for any treatment for the
passive film on stainless steel-
·
No chemical pollution – plasma
nitriding only uses a small amount of ammonia or nitrogen, hydrogen, the
environmental pollution is negligible.
The
FerriticNitro-carburizing imparts
high surface hardness, improved wear resistance and fatigue resistance to a wide
variety of carbon steel , alloy steel and cast iron parts. In many
applications,FNC treatment also improves corrosion resistance through the
formation of a continuous compound layer on the workpiece surface which can
allow for the elimination of subsequent protective plating operations or
application of rust preventive.Advanced
Nitriding solutions supplement plasma furnaces with conventional gas nitriding
solutions. We supply exclusive ferritic nitro-carburizing solutions with
innovative applications delivering substantial advantages to the customers.
