Special
techniques are used for protecting the metal items; nitriding is such a
technique which is widely used in every small-big industries. Nitride objects
not only have a long life but are also resistant. The technique involves
formation of a thick hard layer of element nitrogen over the surface of the
metal which forms a protective coating all over it. The scientific technique of
nitriding in the United States generally involves assembling of ionised
molecules of the nitrogen which are generated when subjected to a much
intensified electric field. This active gas which is called plasma is gathered
around the subjected object.
The ion plasma nitriding is
very advantageous in number of ways which includes very less distortion and
deformity as it is performed at low temperature and under a vacuum, which is
why the resulting product is totally resistant to wearing. It strongly enhances the mechanical
properties of the equipments. The amalgam region created from this process is very
dense and non-porous. The layer is hard but is absolutely non-brittle.
Additionally there is quiet close control on the microstructure of the
nitriding object.
The plasma nitriding equipment and
personnel are very efficient to tackle any trouble whether it is the most
difficult application as compared to other service providers. The system is
fully automated and controlled by computers, so there is no chance of a
mistake. As far as post nitriding is concerned, the finished product does not
require polishing or machining, it already has a great surface finish. This
thermo-chemical technique is generally applicable to gears, ship diesel valve
parts, die tools, shafts, engine parts, moulding tools, crank shafts, cylinder,
screws, various sintered parts and many more. The process is absolutely carried
out in a non-toxic and hygienic atmosphere fulfilling the benchmarks/standards
required for an environmental friendly ambience.
